Laura Elizabeth Simpson, formerly of Tell City, and Rishi Santosh Mhapsekar were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City.
The bride is the daughter of William and Connie Simpson of Tell City, and the granddaughter of Lee Simpson of Tell City. The groom is the son of Santosh and Sunethra Mhapsekar of Tustin, Calif.
The bride was given away in marriage by her father in the double-ring ceremony officiated by the Rev. Thomas Richstatter OFM.
Amy Smith of Indianapolis was chosen as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Simpson of Louisville, Ky., cousin of the bride, Cara Hurak of Cincinnati, Ohio, Amber Ely of Owensboro, Ky., Courtney Kwon of Meford, Mass., and Katie Flight of Fishers.
Best men were Eric Tsai of San Diego, Calif., and Winston Cuan of Irvine, Calif. Groomsmen were Yash Mhapsekar of Mumbai, India, cousin of the groom, Tom Lam of Santa Ana, Calif., Michael Kim of Orange, Calif., and Jeff Simpson of Tell City, and Phillip Simpson of Owensboro, brothers of the bride.
Ushers were Bryan Luistro of Henderson, Nev., and Ashley John of Chicago, Ill.
Vocalist Cindia Ress, accompanied by organist Jane Upmeyer, provided music for the ceremony. Readers at the ceremony were Kenneth Simpson of Tell City, uncle of the bride, and Alan Rillorta of Lake Elsinore, Calif.
A formal dinner reception was held following the ceremony at the Schergens Center in Tell City.
The new Dr. and Mrs. Rishi Mhapsekar honeymooned in Rome, Florence and Venice, Italy and are now residing in St. Louis, Mo.
The bride is a graduate of Indiana State University and works as a registered nurse at Barnes Jewish Healthcare System in St. Louis on the bone marrow transplant unit.
Dr. Mhapsekar served with the United States Marine Corps and is a graduate of Chicago Medical School. He is currently a resident in radiology at Washington University in St. Louis.
Guests attending the reception from a distance traveled from Australia, Canada, Dubai, India, California, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, South Carolina, Texas and Washington.
