LEOPOLD - Dana Sibrel won both throwing events to lead Tell City to sixth place in the 10-team girls track sectional Tuesday.
Elizabeth Kohnert won the high jump to give Tell City first place in three of the four field events the Marksmen entered (they do not compete in the pole vault, as Tell City does not have any pole vault equipment).
Jasper won the sectional with 142 points, a half a point ahead of runner-up Forest Park. Tell City scored 52 points and Perry Central was seventh with 30.
Sibrel repeated as champion in the discus with a 109-foot-3 throw. She also won the discus with a 34-foot-10 3?4 toss.
She became the first Tell City girl to win two events in a sectional since 1999, when her coach, Katie Chinn, won two distance races.
Kohnert, who was unable to compete in the sectional last year because of an injury, cleared 5 feet, 1 inch to win the high jump.
Kohnert took sixth in the long jump at 15 feet, 3 inches.
"We did awesome in the field events," said Chinn.
Tiffany Davis led Tell City runners. She placed second in the 3200-meter run in 12:20.72.
She anchored the Marksmen's 3200 relay that placed fourth in 10:13.85, their best time of the season. Marianne Krueger, Andyn Rowe and Sidney Strobel teamed with her on that relay.
Rowe placed fifth in the 3200 in 12:35.60.
The top eight finishers in each event scored but only the top four qualified for the regional.
Perry Central qualified for the regional in two field events. Amanda Allen placed third in the high jump at 4-10 and Alie Schroeder took third in the shot put at 33-9.
Arika Kemp scored in four events for the Commodores.
She placed sixth in the 100 dash in 14.17 seconds and sixth in the 200 in 28.79. She was just 21-hundredths of a second from qualifying for the regional in the 100.
Jessica Huber, Becca Taylor, Brianna Crockett and Kemp placed sixth in the 400 relay in 53.93.
Those same four girls took seventh in the 1600 relay in 4:27.13.
Perry Central's Tessa Lynch, Audra Gehlhausen, Robbi Thomas and Lavina Schwartz placed sixth in the 3200 relay in 11:03.47.
Schwartz was eighth in the 3200 run in 12:53.82.
Perry Central's Ariel Bland placed seventh in the pole vault at 7 feet and teammate Kylee James took eighth in the shot put at 32 feet.
Krueger placed eighth in the 1600 in 5:57.11 and teamed with Kohnert, Strobel and Davis to take eighth in the 1600 relay in 4:36.17.
