LYNNVILLE—Even with its No. 1 singles player sick, Tell City won one singles match and both doubles to beat Tecumseh 3-2 in PAC boys tennis Tuesday.
Freshman Chandler Lacy, who usually plays JV, moved into the No. 3 singles slot and defeated Hank Brucken 6-0, 6-2.
Jeff Yeung and Austin Paulin beat Robby Dunn and Billy Wallace 6-1, 6-3 in No. 1 doubles.
Tyler Groves and Kevin Yeung defeated Jack Jackson and Christian Wagner 6-2, 6-7 (2-7), 9-3 in a marathon No. 2 singles match.
“With Jake (Swihart) out with an illness, we had to shuffle the lineup a little bit,” said Tell City Coach Nick Weyer.  “Chandler did a great job in his match, his first varsity start.
“Our No. 1 doubles played very well for most of their match.
“No. 2 doubles somewhat lost their focus in the second set, but they showed great resolve and tenacity to finish out the third.”
Tell City won both pro-set reserve matches.
Jack Ramsey defeated Hunter Greenburg 8-4 in singles.
Austin Groves and Josh Kimbril beat Zach Williams and Taylor Parsley 8-3 in doubles.
Tell City, 2-3 in dual matches overall and 2-2 in the PAC, will visit Heritage Hills Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
