TELL CITY - The Perry County Sheriff's Department arrested a convicted sex offender earlier this month after he allegedly failed to register his current address.
According to Deputy Daymion Marsh, Jimmy D. Wiseman had registered his address as 1988 Indiana 62, in Bristow, but had apparently moved to Tell City without notifying authorities, as is required of sex offenders.
"The information we received advised that Mr. Wiseman was residing at 22 High St. in Tell City. After further investigation, Marsh was able to obtain a warrant for Wiseman's arrest for failing to register as a sex offender. The charge is a Class C felony because Wiseman had previously been convicted of failing to register, Marsh said.
Wiseman was lodged in the county jail. Marsh also said his investigation also showed Wiseman had also violated a prohibition by living with 1,000 feet of a preschool.
Marsh encouraged people to visit the state's sex-offender registry at www. insor.org.
"I would also encourage anyone with questions or concerns, or information of a sex offender who is not compliant, to contact me at 547-2441," Marsh said.
