TELL CITY—Poor serve reception hurt Tell City in a 25-11, 26-24, 25-12 volleyball loss to Evansville Memorial Tuesday.
Tell City Coach Dalonda Hayes said her top two back-row passers combined to go 17 for 47 on serve-reception in the first game.
“Then they did really well the second game, but the third game was about like the first game.”
She also said, “We struggled tonight on blocking” against the taller Tigers.
She said part of the Marksmen’s problem is “we’ve had the whole team together for practice only once” due to injuries and sickness. “We’ve just got to get more practice time together. The effort’s there.”
Elizabeth Kohnert made seven kills, two blocks and two ace serves to lead Tell City. She served seven points overall.
Brittney Harth added six kills and two blocks. McKenzie Hayes made five kills, had 14 assists, and served six points.
Miranda Zuelly added seven assists.
Leslie Poole made 15 digs, Hana Reed 13, and Jamie Brinksneader nine.
Memorial won the junior varsity match 22-25, 25-16, 15-14.
Mackenzie Weyer and Megan Austin each made five kills for Tell City. Devin Marchand added four and Stori Beard three.
Lauren Coyle made four good digs.
Tell City, 0-3 at each level, will visit Gibson Southern for a PAC match tonight at 6.
