LEOPOLD - Perry Central center Alie Schroeder was a repeat selection to the All-PLAC girls basketball team in voting by conference coaches Thursday.

Schroeder, a 6-foot center, led the conference in rebounding with 61 in six conference games, an average of 10.2 per game.

"She had 15 more rebounds than anyone else in the conference, so that's probably her biggest asset," said Perry Central Coach Sarah Spindler. "And offensively I think she's improved a lot throughout her career."

Schroeder was eighth in the conference in scoring with a 10.3-point average in conference games.

She was fifth in the conference in two-point field goals made with 26 and seventh in free-throw shooting at 71.4 percent (10 for 14).

Probably her best conference game was a 23-point, 25-rebound effort against Orleans.

Overall she averaged 12.4 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. Her rebounding average was seventh best in the state.

She hit 45.4 percent of her field-goal attempts and 63.8 percent of her free throws overall.

She also averaged 1.6 blocked shots, 1.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.

Schroeder was the only Commodore named to the 10-girl squad.

"The top three teams each got three girls on the team,"

noted Spindler. "We were next (finishing fourth at 3-3) so I thought we might have a chance at getting two on there.

"But our next player wasn't near the top of the stats the PLAC look at."

Besides Schroeder, repeaters from last year's team were Chelsey Barron, Chelsea Benham and Kacey Cox of Crawford County, Emily Grace of Orleans, and Jordan Wilson of Mitchell.

Barron, the Wolfpack's senior point guard, made the team for the fourth year. Grace, a junior forward, made it for the third time.

Mitchell won the conference with a 6-0 record. Crawford County was second at 5-1 and Orleans third at 4-2.

Perry Central currently ranks second in the conference in 2007-08 girls all-sports standings with 28 points, just two points behind Crawford County.
