Scheiber, Goffinet all-state; Hauenstein on academic list

INDIANAPOLIS—Perry Central junior Eric Scheiber and Tell City sophomore Sarah Goffinet have been named to the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches second-team all-state cross country squads.

Each was honored for schools from Class A and 2A football enrollments.

Scheiber headed the boys seven-runner 1A-2A second team.

Two of his teammates, Ian Bashor and Jake Schwartz, were named to the third team. Another, Neal Schwartz, headed the honorable mention list.

Scheiber placed second in the Jasper sectional as Perry Central won it for the fourth year in a row. The Commodores qualified for the state meet for the third year in a row.

Northeast Dubois’ Josh Genet, the runner who beat Scheiber in the sectional, was named the 1A-2A state Runner of the Year.

Goffinet made the girls 1A-2A second team after winning the Jasper sectional for the second year in a row.

She placed second in the Crawford County regional.

The IATCCC also released its cross country academic all-state lists.

Tell City junior Erika Hauenstein made the 39-girl academic all-state list.

Tell City senior Mariah Nix earned honorable mention on that list.

Another Tell City senior, Nick Bower, received honorable mention on the boys list.
