Employees of Casey Electric gingerly remove the Lauer Floral Co. sign Friday from the former business along Indiana 66. Chris Cail purchased the sign and hopes to eventually restore its former neon fixtures. Too many old neon signs, he said, were sold to collectors and “already left the city forever.” He cited Tell Street Liquors and Bunny Bread signs as examples. “They need to stay in our city,” he added. The former Lauer Floral building is being prepared for a new equipment rental and repair business. (Click photo to enlarge.)
