SANTA CLAUS – Santa Claus United Methodist Church, located on Indiana 245 in Santa Claus, has announced its schedule of Christmas-season services.
The first event will be “The Mystery of the Manger,” a special Christmas children and youth choir program set for 3 p.m. Sunday. The church’s Cherub and Next Generation choirs will share the evidence surrounding Jesus’ birth as it is described in scripture.
In the program, character Jane Blonde, an investigative reporter for The Morning Star newspaper, observes a rehearsal for the Christmas Eve pageant. The children teach her through their songs about the gospel accounts of Jesus’ life and that, “like the Wise Men,” we’re all searching for the truth.
The annual breakfast with Santa will be held from 7 to 10 am. Dec. 10 at the Santa Claus Campground. A pancake breakfast will be served, children will have a chance to get their pictures taken with Santa and there will also be a bake sale.
Cost of the breakfast is $5 for adults and $3 for children 10 years and younger.
The church’s “Christmas Cantata” will be presented at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 18, during the Sunday school hour.
The familiar title song will be given new life, as the message of the hymn becomes the common thread binding this work together, combining new songs with old favorites.
A “Serenity Service” will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 20, which organizers said is an opportunity to remember and embrace the serenity of God and faith.
The Christmas Eve services at the church will begin at 6 p.m. with a family service at 11 p.m. Christmas Day worship will begin at 10 a.m. and will be the only service of the day.
