Salvation Army needs bell-ringers; can you spare two hours for others?

PERRY COUNTY – The Salvation Army helps people.

Salvation Army kettle coordinator Randy Roccia needs people to help.

“I am extremely excited in the fact that we are again allowed to have fundraising kettles at each of the Tell City Wal-Mart store entrances,” he said in a plea he e-mailed Thursday to friends and associates, including The News. “This year’s dates are from Nov. 18 through Dec. 24.”

His good news presents a challenge. Roccia needs to recruit volunteer bell ringers to sign up for shifts between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. during that period.

“I really need your help,” he said. “If you, your family, a service organization to which you belong, your church youth group or Sunday school class would be willing to help man the kettles for a two-hour time period, or perhaps take an entire day, please contact me to confirm and reserve a time on the schedule. This is a wonderful way to help give back to your community or receive service hours.”

People who’d like to volunteer or who want more information can send e-mail to rnrroccia@comcast.net or call Roccia at 319-1861.
