ROCKPORT – The public is invited to the annual St. Bernard Summer Social Sunday on the church grounds at Sixth and Elm streets in Rockport. Hours are 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. All-you-can-eat fried-chicken or roast-beef dinners will be served in the air-conditioned gym from 11 a.m. until the food runs out. Takeout will be available.
Saint Bernard’s “famous” soup” will be on sale by the bowl or gallon and sandwiches and other food items will be available in the food court.
Enjoy games for all ages including bingo, homemade ice cream, silent auction, money wheel, kiddie-train rides, quilt raffle and the big money raffle for a chance to win $1,000. A classic car cruise-in will also be held during the day.
The parish and school announced this week that all of the tickets for a 1960 horizon-blue Corvette Convertible were sold.
“This is the earliest sell-out in our history.  A total of 10,000 tickets were sold,” said Chairman Dave Lovell. “We thank all in our community who supported our efforts.”
Proceeds from the Summer Social and classic-car benefit the Saint Bernard raffle Parish and the Saint Bernard Elementary School.
