Roy and Elsie Yoho

Mr. and Mrs. Roy D. Yoho, formerly of Cannelton, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Sept. 6, 2012. A celebration in honor of the anniversary was held at the home of their son, Ron, in Woodbridge, Va., where the couple now resides.

Mr. Yoho and the former Elsie Johnson are natives of Perry County and were residents for more than 75 years. They were married in 1942 at the First Baptist Church in Petersburg by the Rev. Arthur Proctor, former pastor of the Cannelton First Baptist Church.
Joining in the anniversary celebration and a family picture were the Yohos’ two children, Ron Yoho and Karen Dyer and their families consisting of a daughter-in-law, Vicki Yoho and son-in-law Dennis Dyer; grandchildren Ryan, Todd and Lauren Yoho and Anthony and Benjamin Dyer; granddaughters-in-law Lacey Yoho and Diana Yoho; Lauren’s fiancé, Joe Downer and great-grandchildren Abigail, Elizabeth, James, Silas, Joshua, Hannah, Rachel, Rebecca and Sarah Yoho. The Dyers reside in Greensboro, N.C. and the Yohos in Woodbridge.
The Yohos were active in the First Baptist churches of Cannelton and Tell City, and Mr. Yoho served as a member of the Cannelton School Board. After completing service in the Army Air Corps, Mr. Yoho held various managerial positions in Perry County businesses, including the Cannelton Cotton Mill, Mulzer Brothers, Tell City Furniture, Commercial Filters and Schwab Safe.
In addition to homemaker, Mrs. Yoho held positions with the Perry County License Bureau, Kriesle Manufacturing Co. and Golden Years Retirement Center.
