CANNELTON—Rock Creek improved its serve reception to beat Cannelton 25-12, 26-24, 25-16 in volleyball Friday.
Rock Creek has now beaten the Bulldogs twice after losing to them in a tourney Sept. 8.
“They’ve definitely improved since the first time we played them, but we still should have beaten them,” said Cannelton Coach Felicia Myers.
Cannelton had only two ace serves, one apiece by Allicyn Garrett and Mikah Hemmings.
Garrett made four kills and Taylor Lawalin made 24 sets.
Hemmings made seven digs and Melissa Clausen added five.
In the close second game “we set the ball up more and we were on our toes, ready to play,” said Myers.
A bright spot for Cannelton throughout the match was “we only had three or four missed serves,” said Myers.
Cannelton, 2-16, will play Tecumseh in the first round of the Tecumseh sectional Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
