Roadside memorials discussion stirs emotion

-A A +A

Ordinance proposal generates opposition

By Kevin Koelling, Managing Editor

TELL CITY - County Commissioner Jody Fortwendel said at a regular meeting Sept. 2 he wanted input from county residents about a possible ordinance on roadside memorials. He got nearly an hour's worth at the commissioners' latest meeting Wednesday.

Approximately 20 people attended the meeting, many of them high-school students.

"We're here in protest of any kind of time limits," said Jeff Jones, an adult who noted, "it's the way we pay tribute to our lost loved ones."
