PAOLI—Josalyn Ress struck out 18 and drove in two runs as Tell City beat Paoli 3-1 in eight innings in girls softball Saturday.

Ress’ strikeout total  is a single-game school record. She walked none and gave up two hits.

She shut out the Rams for seven innings in a row after giving up an unearned run on a hit by pitch and three passed balls in the first inning.

Still Tell City trailed 1-0 going into the sixth inning.

Ress singled home the tying run that inning after Hana Reed singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch.

The score remained tied until Ress hit a solo homer over the center-field fence in the top of the eighth inning to put the Marksmen up 2-1.

They added an insurance run later that inning on a walk to Miranda Zuelly and a single by Sydney Grass.

Tell City outhit Paoli 7-2 for the game. Ress went 3 for 4 and Zuelly and Cortni Strobel each added a double.
