TELL CITY - Troy Township has a new trustee. Cannelton resident Pat Reed has been appointed to the position by Democrat precinct leaders and succeeds JoAnn Smith in the office. Smith has accepted a position in the county treasurer's office.

Reed is no stranger to public service, having worked eight years in the Troy Township Assessor's office and then four years on the county council. Her father, Walter "Boob" Amos, was Troy Township's trustee for more than a decade in the 1970s and 80s. Reed's mother, Hazel, finished her father's last term after his death.

Reed will work from her home at 4233 E. Indiana 66 in Cannelton. Her first official day will be Wednesday. A separate telephone number, 547-3001, has been established for the trustee's office.

Reed will continue in several community-service roles, including her work with the county's Red Cross chapter. She is also a first responder and deputy county coroner.

New Advisory Board Member

County Democrats appointed Tom Hagedorn to fill a position on the Troy Township Advisory Board, replacing Jerry Thomas, who resigned for health reasons.
