Postseason performance should count in awards

Media members who vote for Major League Baseball's postseason awards are required to turn in their ballots before the playoffs begin.

But the winners are not announced until after the World Series. So many of the voters must feel silly when by then it is obvious they picked the wrong winner.

A case in point is this year's American League Cy Young Award, for which Cleveland's C.C. Sabathia beat out Boston's Josh Beckett.
