TELL CITY – Hours after a man robbed German American Bank’s northside branch in Tell City Friday, officers were still trying to identify the suspect and determine where he went after fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No one was injured inside the branch, located at 1508 N. 12th St., when the white male, described as being middle-aged and about 5-foot, 9-inches in height, entered the bank around 1:30 p.m. and demanded cash. Police said the man was wearing a light-colored sleaveless shirt, baseball-style hat and mirrored sunglasses.
He fled on foot, possibly to an awaiting vehicle. Officers believe he may have been armed with a handgun concealed in the waistband of his pants and city officers and sheriff’s deputies searching for him were told to consider him armed and dangerous.
State police are also aiding in the investigation. Anyone with information on Friday’s robbery should call 911 or the Tell City Police Department at 547-7068.
