Plunge to help to unite teen with service dog

CANNELTON – A team of five individuals from around the area will gather Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Perry Marine boat dock in Rocky Point for a plunge to help raise money for a local girl suffering from epilepsy.
This date is a change from the previously scheduled March 26.
For every $50 raised, a member of the team will take a plunge into the cold water. Money raised will help Victoria Brucken, a 17-year-old Cannelton resident, receive a seizure alert dog.
Denise Dimmett, Brucken’s mother, said the group would like to make this an annual event to help raise funds for others in need of service dogs.
Donations can be made the day of the event or sent to Dimmett at 604 St. Louis Avenue, Cannelton, IN 47520. Checks may be payable to Service Dogs, with Victoria Brucken written in the memo line.
A benefit dance and dinner is also planned for April 2 at the Knights of Columbus building in Tell City. The event will start at 7 p.m. and include bands and an auction.
For more information on either event, contact Dimmett at (270) 256-1656.
