PERRY COUNTY – Kenneth Edward Barnes, a former writer for the Perry County News and published author, will be a part of a book signing from 2 to 4 p.m. March 18 at the Boonville Public Library and from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. March 31 at the Lincoln Heritage Public Library in Dale.
One of his books, “Life on Pigeon Creek,” is about Barnes’ early life in Warrick County and mentions several towns in Spencer County, including Rockport, Eureka and Dale.
Barnes has published six books, “In Search of a Golden Sparrow,” “Life on Pigeon Creek,” “Invasion of the Dregs,” “A Children’s Story Collection,” “Barnestorming the Outdoors” and “Poems from the Heart.” He also has a seventh book published under his pen name. He is a member of Hoosier Outdoor Writers, where he has earned awards for his writing. He has also been a guest speaker for Boy Scouts, Daughters of the American Revolution, Teachers Reading Counsel, Kiwanis and at several schools, libraries and churches.
In addition to the Perry County News, Barnes has also written for The Boon-ville Standard, Newburgh Register and Chandler Post. He’s been an outdoor columnist and contributing editor for several newspapers and magazines, including Southern Indiana Outdoors, Kentucky Woods and Waters, Ohio Valley Sportsman and more.
He has also had poems published locally and nationally. He said his best-loved poem, “Condemned,” has been published by the tens of thousands.
