TELL CITY—Perry Central held Tell City to one point in the second half to beat the Marksmen 41-17 in eighth grade boys basketball Thursday.
John Bashor and Ty Mullis each scored 11 points to lead Perry Central’s balanced attack. Luke Bishop added 10 and Trent McElfresh eight.
“They were shorthanded,” said Perry Central Coach Stan Hubert. “I think we kind of wore them down in the second half.”
The Commodores scored on a lot of drives into the lane.
Dylan Kapp grabbed 10 rebounds for the Commodores and Kage Kiplinger added eight.
Zach Butler scored six points to lead Tell City. Nick Smith and Whitaker Lyons each added four.
The Marksmen were without four starters, as one had mononucleosis, one had a dislocated kneecap, and two were gone to San Antonio to compete in a national cross country meet.
Tell City won the seventh grade game 34-16 as Ty Smith scored 20 points and made four steals.
Trent Arnold added six points and Braeden Beard grabbed six rebounds.
Arnold, Beard and Spencer Fest each made two steals. Arnold, Fest and Tretter Lyons each had two assists.
Clay James had four points and five rebounds for Perry Central. Cain Hohne also scored four points.
Tell City, 5-0 in the seventh grade and 1-4 in the eighth grade, will visit South Spencer today at 5 p.m.
Perry Central, 1-2 in each grade, will play at Crawford County today at 5:30 p.m.
