The sixth grade students at Perry Central Elementary School got the privilege to see a K9 demonstration by Officer Michael Jackson and his dog, Eric, officer Derek Lawalin and his dog, Jago, and Officer Jason Shadwick.
The officers explained and demonstrated to the students the value of the police dogs. The students also got to witness the dog’s identify drugs as well as see how the dogs respond when citizens do not corporate with the officers. Shadwick also visits Perry Central sixth graders weekly to do a lesson from the Gang Resistance Education And Training Program. The students learn the importance of good decision making and explore possible consequences for good and bad decision making.
