LYNNVILLE - Andrew Harpenau scored 21 points as Perry Central beat Tecumseh 44-30 in freshman basketball Thursday.

"We played pretty good (man-to-man) defense starting out," said Perry Central Coach Kevin Rogier. "We intercepted a few passes and got some layups.

"For not playing since Dec. 17, I was pleased with the way we played.

"Andrew played his best game of the year. He was aggressive and took the ball to the hole."

Kyle Troesch added eight points, Neal Schwartz seven, and Kyle Rasche six for the Commodores.

The game ended with 3:47 left on the clock when one of the scoreboards went out and smoke started coming out of the wall in the Tecumseh auxiliary gym.

Perry Central, 4-3, will host South Spencer tonight at 6.
