Perry Central shuts down Eagles

LANESVILLE—Perry Central held Lanesville to 11.4 percent field-goal shooting to beat the Eagles 47-21 in girls basketball Monday.
Holding the Eagles to one shot on most possessions helped the Commodores hold them to five field goals, including none in the third quarter.
“We did a good job defensively of keeping them out of the paint and off the rebounds,” said Perry Central Coach Ty Guillaume.
The Commodores outrebounded the Eagles 41-21, with the Eagles getting only five offensive rebounds compared with 16 for Perry Central.
Reserve forward Rosa Schwartz led Perry Central with eight rebounds. Skyly Cummings and Morgan Richardson each added six.
Sydney Goffinet scored six points in the first half to lead a balanced attack as the Commodores built a 26-10 lead.
Brittany Parker led them in scoring for the game with 12 points, including six in the third quarter. Hannah Edwards added nine and Goffinet eight.
Parker made five of the Commodores’ 13 steals and had four assists. Richardson added three assists.
Perry Central hit 36.0 percent from the field.
Reserve Hannah Walther led 1-4 Lanesville with four points.
Perry Central, 3-2, will visit Crawford County tonight at 7.

Perry Central won the JV game 47-21 as Verna Schwartz scored 10 points.
Sarah Spires added eight points in one quarter for the 2-2 Commodores.
Brynnan Underhill grabbed six rebounds and Payton Emmons had three assists.
