LEOPOLD—Levi Hilgenhold and Hunter LaGrange combined for 222 yards rushing and four touchdowns as Perry Central beat Tell City 32-6 in reserve football Monday.
Hilgenhold carried the ball 14 times for 114 yards and one touchdown. LaGrange ran 13 times for 108 yards and three touchdowns.
“Our line opened up some good holes,” said Perry Central Coach Nathan Toothman. “This is one of the better games they’ve had.”
Hilgenhold scored the game’s first touchdown on a 2-yard run. It was set up by James Carroll’s blocking a Tell City punt.
LaGrange scored the Com-modores’ other touchdowns on runs of 6, 1 and 36 yards.
He also ran for two two-point conversions and Hilgenhold ran for one. The Commodores scored their other two points on a safety.
Tell City rushed for only 10 yards on 25 carries. But a bright spot for the Marksmen was “we were actually able to throw the ball tonight,” said Tell City Coach Matt Goffinet. “Our line blocked better in the second half.”
The Marksmen completed 9 of 25 passes for 134 yards. Jessie Lawalin caught four 101 yards and Ryan LaGrange caught four for 40 yards.
Ryan LaGrange scored the Marksmen’s touchdown on a 25-yard pass from Logan Simpson in the second quarter.
Perry Central’s Marcus Peter intercepted a pass to end the game. Hunter LaGrange intercepted one earlier.
“We were in good position (on pass defense) all night,” said Toothman. “But we misread a couple of balls and jumped too soon.”
Perry Central, 3-2, will visit Southridge’s freshman team Monday at 5:30 p.m. Tell City, 0-5, will host Southridge’s reserve team at the same time.
