ENGLISH—Trevor Carter shot an 8-over-par 36 to lead Perry Central to second place in the seven-team Early Bird boys golf tourney at Lucas Oil course Saturday.
Paoli won with 183 strokes, six fewer than the Commodores.
Tell City’s Mason Waninger finished second in the nine-hole tourney with a 42, just two strokes behind medalist Logan Andis of Paoli.
But Tell City did not have a team score, as only three Marksmen competed. Two are sidelined with medical issues and one had a baseball game.
Carter placed third in the 38-man field.
Besides Carter, Perry Central scorers were James Rogier with 47, Nick Edwards 48, and Nic Pierrard 50.
Nathan Bashor was the Commodores’ fifth man with a 51.
Besides Waninger, Tell City players were Grant Bolin with 47 and Damian Harney 52.
Carter shot 41 as Perry Central placed second in a four-team meet Monday.
North Harrison won with 161. Perry Central shot 177, Crawford County 187, and West Washington 228.
Rogier shot 44, Edwards 45, and Pierrard 47 to complete the 10-4 Commodores’ scoring.
Bashor was their fifth man with 52.
Tell City did not have a team score again Tuesday in a match with Tecumseh at Boonville, but Waninger was the medalist with a 40.
He birdied the par-5, ninth hole.
“Mason is really playing well right now,” said Tell City Coach Keith Feldpausch. “He is improving in every match.”
Harney also played for the Marksmen and shot 52.
Team scores: Paoli 183, Perry Central 189, Crawford County Orange 206, Lanesville 219, South Central 223, Northeast Dubois 251, Crawford County Brown 253. Tell City and Christian Academy did not have team scores.
