MARENGO—Kayla Parr pitched a two-hitter as Crawford County shut out Perry Central 5-0 in PLAC girls softball Saturday.

Parr struck out only one and walked three.

Perry Central’s only hits were a two-out single to right field by Cassie Wilgus in the fifth inning and a one-out double by Kristi Brumfield in the sixth.

Tara Claise advanced to third base on Brumfield’s double and had a chance to score on a sharply hit ball up the middle. But Wolfpack shortstop Chelsea Benham made a diving stop on it and threw Claise out at the plate.

Brumfield took the loss for Perry Central despite pitching a four-hitter. She walked three and struck out one.

Perry Central had nine hits in another PLAC game at Paoli Monday, the same number as the Rams. But Paoli also took advantage of walks and errors to win 13-3.

The Rams scored eight runs in the fifth inning on three hits, two errors and three walks.

Brumfield struck out three and walked eight batters before being relieved by Wilgus in the fifth inning.

“Kristi just wasn’t as sharp as she’s been,” said Perry Central Coach Greg Gibson. “And here lately we’re just not making the plays we need to. And we had a couple of plays where we just didn’t make good decisions.”

Morgan Gibson drove in all three of Perry Central’s runs with a double in the third inning.

Gibson, Cassy Schaad, Hilarie Hahus and Heather Cooper each had two hits for the Commodores.

Perry Central is 1-2 in the PLAC while Crawford County is 1-1 and Paoli 1-2 in the conference.

Perry Central, 1-10 overall, will host North Harrison Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
