Perry Central boys place 2nd in junior high state meet

INDIANAPOLIS—Nathan Schwartz placed sixth to lead Perry Central to second place in the 31-team, small-school boys junior high cross country meet Saturday.

South Knox won with 95 points. Perry Central was second with 120 and Hebron third with 135.

Perry Central has a 90-1 record, as it had beaten every other opponent this season.

Schwartz ran the course in 10:29.7.

Other Perry Central scorers were Aaron Pierrard, 23rd in 10:52.7; Bryce Lain, 27th in 10:56.4; Andrew Huber, 42nd in 11:16.6; and Michael Schwartz, 44th in 11:19.8.

Zach Rice, 114th in 12:09.5, and Brandon Aders, 174th in 12:47.4, also finished for the Commodores.

A total of 229 boys competed in the race.

Perry Central finished 11th among 27 teams in the small-school girls race with 259 points. The Crusader Running Club won with 92 and Zionsville was second with 102.

Marie Schwartz placed fourth in 11:37.2 to lead Perry Central.

Also scoring for the Commodores were Megan Thomas, 38th in 12:16.1; Verna Schwartz, 43rd in 12:20.3; Rosa Schwartz, 89th in 12:52.5; and Jill Theis, 110th in 13:07.3.

Amber Lindauer, 112th in 13:12.1, and Jessica Theis, 119th in 13:16.7, also ran for the Commodores.

Perry Central’s girls team has a 72-11 record.

The Commodores will compete in the PLAC meets at Paoli today at 4:30 p.m.
