FRENCH LICK—No one shot under 104 for Perry Central as the Commodores finished sixth among six complete teams in the PLAC boys golf tourney Monday.
Perry Central shot 424. Host Springs Valley won with 347.
“That’s probably the worst we’ve ever done,” said Perry Central Coach Bill Dickerson. “We finished last and were seeded fourth.
“The conditions were pretty bad for everybody. But we let too many bad holes bother us (still thinking about them on the next holes).”
Trevor Carter and James Rogier each shot 104 to lead Perry Central.
Nick Edwards shot 107 and Nathan Bashor 108 to complete the Commodores’ scoring.
Nic Pierrard was their fifth man with 113.
Despite their high scores, the Commodores did make one birdie. Edwards birdied the par-4, No. 10 hole.
Chad Phillips of Mitchell was the medalist with an even-par 72. Brad Milholland of Wes Washington was second with 80 and the seven-man all-conference team included one golfer, Springs Valley’s Cole Burton, who shot 90, evidence that conditions were not ideal.
Perry Central, 17-16, will compete in the 12-team Jasper sectional at Sultan’s Run Friday. The Commo-dores will tee off at 8 a.m. Perry County time.
PLAC team scores: Springs Valley 347, Paoli 368, Crawford County 405, Orleans 418, West Washington 419, Perry Central 424, Mitchell no team score (only three Bluejackets finished)
