PERRY COUNTY – Indiana school corporations have been working with newspapers across the state this month to publish education report cards for local communities.
Annual performance reports for Cannelton City Schools, Perry Central Community School Corp. and Tell City-Troy Township School Corp. can be found on Pages 9A-10A of today's print edition.
Required for publication by Jan. 31 under state law, the annual performance reports include the most recent data available on student test scores, graduation rates, school safety, teacher salaries, school corporation expenditures and more.
"From standardized test scores to graduation rates, we must always aim high and keep constant score of how Indiana schools are serving their students," said Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett. "The annual performance reports offer an important opportunity for local communities to track their schools' progress."
All data to be included in the annual performance reports are available online at www.doe.in.gov/apr. While newspapers and the public have access to this information, each school corporation is responsible for notifying local newspapers and authorizing the publication of the reports.
Annual performance reports are part of an ongoing effort to encourage Hoosiers to become more knowledgeable about their schools and for schools to become more accountable to the public they serve.
To provide an even clearer picture of local schools, the Indiana Department of Education makes additional detailed information available year-round online at www.doe.in.gov/schooldata.
The Web site goes beyond what is possible on the printed page, allowing anyone to access a variety of school data, graphically display the results and even compare schools based on a number of characteristics.
Performance reports for Hoosier school corporations can be found at www.doe.in.gov/apr.
