PCMH welcomes Field to Perry County Surgical Associates

TELL CITY – Perry County Memorial Hospital announces Dr. Gilbert Field has joined the staff and began seeing patients July 18 at Perry County Surgical Associates in Tell City.

Field is originally from Detroit, Mich. He earned a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Arizona State University graduating cum laude.
He received his doctorate of osteopathic medicine in 1996 from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at St. John Oakland Hospital in Warren, Mich., where he was named surgical resident of the year in 2000 and 2001.
Most recently, Field worked at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital in Frankfort and served as the hospital chief of staff in 2011, vice chief of staff in 2010 and chief of surgery in 2007.
Field taught at St. Louis University from 2004-05 and was an adjunct professor of surgery in the Department of Trauma Surgery.
In 2001, he began practicing medicine at Scott Air Force Base as an attending surgeon. He worked as a trauma surgeon for special operations, Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. In 2005, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
Board certified by the American Board of Osteopathic Surgery, Field is also a member of the American Osteopathic Association.
Field will provide a full range of general surgery services including laparoscopic surgery of the gallbladder, advanced laparoscopic techniques for hernia repair, comprehensive breast care for benign-malignant diagnosis, endoscopic procedures of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, colon cancer surgery and surgical biopsy and excision of skin cancers.
