ORLEANS—Perry Central had a season-high 16 hits as it beat Orleans 9-5 in PLAC girls softball Monday.

Cassy Schaad went 3 for 4 to lead Perry Central hitters.

Tara Claise, Kristi Brumfield, Cassie Wilgus and Haley Lewis each added two hits. Every Perry Central starter had at least one hit.

Claise and Brumfield each drove in two runs.

Brumfield pitched a five-hitter for the win. She walked three and struck out four.

“She pitched a good ballgame and we played some good defense behind her,” said Perry Central Coach Greg Gibson. “I thought Andrea Kessens played a real good third base—she had five assists and no errors.”

Perry Central lost a PLAC game at West Washington 10-4 Tuesday.

“I don’t know if it was the long ride up there or what, but we didn’t play very well the first three innings (falling behind 7-0),” said Gibson.

Morgan Gibson went 2 for 3 to lead Perry Central hitters.

Perry Central pitchers Cassie Wilgus and Brumfield combined to give up eight hits and six walks and strike out three.

Perry Central, 2-3 in the PLAC and 4-13 overall, will visit South Spencer today at 5 p.m. and Mitchell Friday at 5.
