TELL CITY—Grant Pund scored three touchdowns as Perry Central defeated Tell City 40-0 in JV football Monday.
Pund carried the ball just five times but rushed for 127 yards. He had two touchdown runs of 58 yards and one of 1 yard.
Adam Dauby threw a 5-yard pass to Dylan Seibert for the Commodores’ second touchdown and a 10-yard one to Morgan Kemp for the final touchdown.
Dauby completed 2 of 3 passes officially. He also completed three two-point conversion passes, to Seibert, Jacob Kelly and Lane Hilgenhold.
Kemp ran for the other two two-point conversions. He rushed for 50 yards on 15 carries.
The Commodores rushed for 223 yards overall on 27 carries.
Their defense held Tell City to 80 yards on 34 carries and 0 for 2 passing.
“Our defense has really been working hard,” said Perry Central Coach Nathan Toothman.
“Our linemen on both sides of the ball played well,” he added. “We came out and fired off the ball and played physical, and our backs made nice cuts.”
Joe Craig carried the ball 15 times for 40 yards to lead Tell City rushers. Joey Ingle added 30 yards on 11 carries.
The game was the season opener for both teams.
Tell City will host Heritage Hills Tuesday at 6 p.m. Perry Central will visit Forest Park Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
