PAOLI—Perry Central held Paoli to 36.4 percent field-goal shooting to beat the Rams 54-52 in overtime in PLAC boys basketball Friday.

The Rams hit only 9 of 32 shots from two-point range and 7 of 12 three-point attempts.

Despite their shooting better from three-point than two-point range, Perry Central Coach Matt Carter said, “I thought we did a good job defending their three-point shooters. They had four guys on the floor at any one time who could shoot the three.”

Still Paoli star Logan Laswell did hit a three-pointer—his first of the game—late in regulation to send the game into overtime.

Laswell added another three-pointer in overtime. The Rams hit 1 of 3 free throws for their only other scoring in the extra period.

Ian Hahus made a field goal and two free throws for Perry Central and Alex Rogier added two free throws.

Hahus and Rogier finished with 22 points apiece. “So we had good balance there,” said Carter.

Hahus hit 10 of 11 shots from two-point range. “He was hitting a lot of 10- to 15-foot shots, elevating over the defense,” said Carter.

The Commodores hit 48.9 percent from the field overall.

Rogier grabbed 14 rebounds, including five at the offensive end, as the Commodores dominated the boards 31-16.

Rogier also had three assists and three steals and Jake Schwartz had three assists.

The Commodores played without starting guard Jacob Schwartz, who injured his knee in Wednesday’s game against Forest Park.

“Hopefully he’ll be back Monday,” said Carter.

Laswell led Paoli with 19 points.

Perry Central improved to 7-10 overall and 2-3 in the PLAC. Paoli fell to 9-9 and suffered its first loss in five conference games.

Perry Central will host Heritage Hills Friday at 7:30 p.m.
