ENGLISH—Freshman Jordan Waninger shot his best round ever to help Perry Central win a three-team boys golf match Tuesday.
Perry Central and Crawford County each shot 176 (West Washington finished third).
The tie was broken by comparing the team’s fifth men’s scores, and Waninger’s 48 beat the Wolfpack’s 51 by three strokes.
Trevor Carter led Perry Central with a 3-over-par 39, including a birdie on the par-5, No. 6 hole.
Nathan Bashor shot 45 and James Rogier and Nic Pierrard each shot 46 to complete the Commodores’ scoring.
Perry Central finished second in a three-team match at French Lick’s Donald Ross course, also known as the Hill course, Monday.
Host Springs Valley won with 177 strokes. Perry Central shot 204 and Forest Park 206.
Springs Valley is “pretty good and this course is pretty tough,” said Perry Central Coach Bill Dickerson. “It’s pretty long and the greens are pretty fast.
“That makes scores a little high for everyone, but I wouldn’t say us or Forest Park played very well either.”
Nick Edwards shot 12-over-par 47 to lead Perry Central.
Carter shot 50, Rogier 51, and Pierrard 56 to complete the team’s scoring.
Perry Central, 15-7, will play Corydon at Old Capital course today at 4:30 p.m. and will visit Tell City for a dual match Monday at 4:15 p.m.
