LEOPOLD - Paoli scored two runs in the eighth inning to beat Perry Central 12-10 in PLAC girls softball Monday.

Perry Central had tied the score 10-10 in the bottom of the seventh on Cassy Schaad's two-run double.

That was the Commodores' first runs since the first inning, when they scored eight as Schaad hit a double and a single. She went 3 for 5 with four RBIs.

Ashley Brown also went 3 for 5 for the Commodores. Hilarie Hahus went 2 for 3 plus walked once and was hit by a pitch once. Morgan Gibson drove in two runs.

"We hit the ball hard but they started making some nice plays (after the first inning)," said Perry Central Coach Greg Gibson.

Each team had 12 hits for the game.

Cassie Wilgus pitched a complete game for Perry Central, striking out three and walking nine.

Chelsea Benham hit two doubles and a triple as Crawford County beat Perry Central 22-2 in another PLAC game Saturday.

The Wolfpack had 14 hits, drew eight walks, and took advantage of five Perry Central errors.

Wilgus pitched the first three innings for the Commodores, striking out three and walking seven.

"They just hit everything she threw up there and we didn't back her up with real good defense," said Gibson.

Perry Central had four hits in the five-inning game. Heather Cooper had a double and a single in two at-bats.

Perry Central, 0-9, will host Cannelton for a doubleheader Saturday at noon.
