LINCOLN CITY—Heritage Hills ended the first half with a 16-2 run to pull away to a 53-32 girls basketball victory over Perry Central Thursday.
“We fell behind 10-2, then we tied it 12-12, and then we just started turning the ball over,” said Perry Central Coach Bill Dickerson.
Heritage Hills was not pressing when the Commodores had turnover problems.
“They ran a little trap and half-court man-to-man,” said Dickerson. “We handled their trap fine but their man-to-man gave us problems.
“We had pretty good penetration at times, but we missed a lot of close shots. They seem to have our number this year.”
Rachael Rayford led the Commodores with 10 points on 4 of 8 field-goal shooting and 2 of 2 free throws.
Lavina Schwartz made seven steals. No one had more than four rebounds for the Commodores.
The Commodores hit 33.3 percent from the field.
Center Teri Rothgerber led 9-6 Heritage Hills with 17 points and Lyndi Collins came off the bench to add 13, including three three-point baskets.
Heritage Hills won the junior varsity game 25-24.
Amy Schwartz had seven points and five rebounds for Perry Central and Susan Schwartz added six points.
Perry Central, 8-8 in varsity and 3-8 in JV, will host Tell City tonight at 6.
