LEOPOLD—Clint Cassidy pitched a four-hitter as Perry Central shut out Lanesville 3-0 in baseball Wednesday.

Cassidy walked only one and struck out five.

“He had a real low pitch count too,” said Perry Central Coach Gary Hanan. “He was around the plate the whole game and got a lot of ground-ball outs.”

Perry Central also had only four hits but took advantage of Lanesville pitchers’ wildness to score two runs in the first inning on just one hit.

Austin Hauser was hit by a pitch to start that inning. He advanced to third base on T.J. Lamon’s double to left field and scored on a wild pitch.

After Clint Cassidy walked, Lamon also scored on a wild pitch.

The Commodores scored their final run in the fifth inning.

Ryan Hanan singled and continued to second when the ball got past the center fielder.

Ryan Kessens singled to right to score Hanan.

Hanan went 2 for 3 to lead Perry Central hitters.

The Commodores outslugged Wood Memorial 12-8 Friday.

Lamon went 3 for 4 to lead the Commodores’ 12-hit attack.

Cassidy added two doubles, and Hauser and Kessens each also had two hits.

Lamon, Cassidy, Tony Backer and Stephen Hayes each drove in two runs.

Hayes, the second of three Perry Central pitchers, pitched the sixth inning for the win.

The Commodores scored six runs in the bottom of that inning to come from behind, with Hayes driving in two of them with a single to right.

The win was the Commodores’ eighth in a row, tying the longest win streak in team history set in 2006.

Perry Central, 9-5, will host Paoli for a PLAC game today at 5 p.m.
