TELL CITY - A local paramedic who helped save the life of woman trapped inside her burning home was honored last month for his heroism.
John Gebhard, a paramedic with Perry County Emergency Medical Services, was presented the Otis R. Bowen M.D. Heroic Rescue Award. The honor is named after the state's governor, a physician before taking office in 1973, and recognizes courage and bravery.
Gebhard received the award during the 28th Annual Indiana Emergency Response Conference in Indianapolis.
