PAOLI—Paoli used two big innings to beat Perry Central 7-4 in PLAC baseball Monday.
A hit batsman, two singles and two doubles fueled a four-run third inning for the Rams.
After Perry Central pulled within 4-3, the Rams scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth. They started it with a single and two outs later got four consecutive singles.
“They hit the ball well,” said Perry Central Coach Gary Hanan.
The Rams outhit Perry Central 13-9 overall.
“We need to hit the ball better in (clutch) situations,” said Hanan. “Almost every inning we had people in scoring position.”
The Commodores stranded six runners on second or third base.
Seth Raetz went 3 for 4 to lead Perry Central in hits. Joey Peter hit two doubles and a sacrifice bunt in three plate appearances and Derek Thomas also went 2 for 2.
Clint Cassidy pitched the first 21⁄3 innings for Perry Central but was the victim of the Rams’ third-inning uprising.
Dee Jay Shaw relieved him and struck out the final two batters that inning. He held the Rams scoreless the next two innings before they got to him for three runs in the sixth.
Shaw walked none and struck out four.
Perry Central fell to 6-10 overall and 1-2 in the PLAC. Paoli improved to 2-2 in the conference.
The Commodores will visit Crawford County Monday at 4:30 p.m.
