CORYDON - Jenna Keinsley pitched a one-hitter as Corydon beat Perry Central 13-0 in the Commodores' girls softball season opener Wednesday.

Keinsley walked only one and struck out 12, striking out every Commodore starter at least once.

"She just overpowered us a little bit early," said Perry Central Coach Greg Gibson.

Perry Central's Hilarie Hahus reached base on an error by the shortstop to start the game. But the next three batters struck out.

The Commodores had only two more runners reach base in the game, which was shortened to five innings by the five-run rule.

Keinsley had a no-hitter until two outs in the fifth inning, when April Ransom delivered a solid pinch-hit single.

Ransom advanced to second base on a passed ball, but then a strikeout ended the game.

Corydon, ranked eighth in the state in Class 3A, had nine hits, including two for extra bases, and took advantage of five Perry Central errors.

"Our errors were mainly throwing errors," said Gibson. "I thought our infield didn't play too bad."

Abby Preher pitched a complete game for Perry Central, walking four, striking out two, and hitting one batter.

Perry Central will host Tell City today at 4:30 p.m.
