Owensboro hospital named one of America’s 100 best for 2013

 OWENSBORO, Ky. – Owensboro Health Regional Hospital announced this week is has been named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades, a leading online resource that helps consumers search, evaluate, compare and connect with physicians and hospitals. 

By earning this distinction, the Owensboro Health Region-al Hospital now ranks among the top 2 percent of hospitals in the nation.

To determine the nation’s best-performing hospitals, Healthgrades based its evaluation on objective measures of clinical quality across nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide. To qualify for this award, hospitals must demonstrate measurably lower risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates across 19 of 27 conditions and procedures evaluated for a minimum of four years. 

The Owensboro hospital is the only one in the Evansville region to receive the Amer-ica’s 100 Best Hospitals Award and one of only two in Kentucky. 

“This distinction provides a measure of confidence for con-sumers. Hospitals earn this distinction by providing better than expected outcomes across a broad spectrum of conditions and procedures over an extend-ed period of time,” said Evan Marks, executive vice president of informatics and strategy. 

“Their exceptional performance reflects their dedicated approach to delivering superior quality of care for patients,” he said.
