Out with the old

-A A +A

Employees of the Tell City Water Department made fast work of two big jobs Tuesday, replacing old valves at the intersections of Fulton and Sixth streets and Main and Jefferson streets. As announced last week in the News and in visits to affected homes and businesses, water service in some areas was curtailed until shortly after noon. Water Utility Superintendent Dale Poole said there were a couple of small glitches but the work was successful. The large old valves were obsolete and new ones will allow the water department to isolate future leaks and other issues, helping to reduce the number of customers impacted. Above, the old valve at Fulton Street is removed. Nearby, left, its replacement is ready for installation.
