LYNNVILLE—Tell City offensive lineman Cody Osborne and Perry Central punter Austin LeClere have been named to the Region 9 senior football all-star team.
Members of the 27-man team are eligible to be considered for the South team for Indiana’s annual North-South all-star game in July.
That team will be chosen in March from among the five region all-star teams in the southern half of the state.
Osborne’s blocking helped Tell City to its best record in seven years and helped Elliott Brown become just the fourth Marksman to rush for 1,900 yards in a season.
Osborne “was just very consistent,” said Tell City Coach Ryan George. “He graded out well each week.”
LeClere averaged 38.4 yards per punt, with good hang time on them, for the Commodores.
He also rushed for 1,640 yards and scored 28 touchdowns.
Perry Central Coach Greg Gibson thinks LeClere’s versatility could help him make the South team.
“He could also be a return man, a backup running back, and a backup receiver,” said Gibson.
At least two players from Class A teams must make the South team, which could also help LeClere’s chances.
Gibson said he thought Linton receiver Grant Stamm “was a lock” for one of those spots, but he will not play after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament.
