LEOPOLD - Orleans, ranked No. 1 in the state in Class A, used several backdoor layups to hit 81.1 percent from the field and beat Perry Central 76-66 in PLAC boys basketball Friday.
Jacob Smith scored 30 points for the Bulldogs. Most came on backdoor layups as the Commodores' defense broke down.
Orleans missed only two shots from the floor in the second half, hitting 14 of 16.
Nick Huber hit a three-point shot from the left side of the key with 3:13 left in the third quarter to pull the Commodores within 48-47.
That was as close as they would get.
