LEOPOLD — Stepping Stones Pre-school, located in the St. Augustine Catholic Church Parish Hall basement, is accepting registrations for the 2013-14 school year.
The preschool seeks to provide a positive educational experience for 3- and 4-year-olds, preparing them for elementary school.
Each week your child will be introduced to a new letter of the alphabet, with each letter will be a theme involving games, hands-on activities, arts and crafts, songs and writing activities to enrich your child’s cognitive, physical, creative and social-emotional development. Each month children will be introduced to a new color, shape and number.
The program also includes field trips, guest speakers, a reading-incentive program and snack-time prayer.
The small classes provide one-on-one time to work on motor skills such as zipping, buttoning and tying, which will help the child become more independent and increase his or her self-esteem.
Providers also reinforce peaceful play patterns and encourage problem solving to develop healthy peer relationships.
Stepping Stones Preschool uses aspects of the Highscope curriculum along with following the Indiana State Standards to ensure your child has all the needed tools to succeed in Kindergarten and the years following. There are currently openings for the 3-year-old class, which has optional meetings of Monday and Wednesday or Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Classes run from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The pre-school also offers families extended hours of childcare. For more information call Kelli Hubert at 836-4385 or Martha Thomas at 836-4254.
