TELL CITY – The three-member Perry County Redevelopment Authority met Feb. 13 to approve the latest invoices for work being accomplished on the county’s new jail facility.

They included two bills from the DLZ architectural-engineering consulting firm, one from the Umbaugh and Associates financial consulting firm, both of Indianapolis and another from Craftsman Construction of Huntingburg.

Umbaugh is managing funds banked for the project, county attorney Chris Goffinet told the authority members, and receives a quarterly fee for investing them “and trying to earn a little investment money.”

Some footers had been poured, member Louis Heitkemper said. County Administrator Teresa Kanneberg, who attends progress meetings, said the project was on schedule.

“I spoke to the architect last week or the week before,” Goffinet said. “He said he was very pleased with the work they’d been doing so far.”

The invoices totaled $257,828.84 excluding retainage, money held back until the project is completed.

The redevelopment authority normally meets on a less-frequent as-needed basis, but is now meeting monthly to approve jail-project bills. They’ll gather again at 8 a.m. March 13 in the county courthouse.
