Commissioners also approve revised emergency ordinance

TELL CITY – Perry County’s commissioners approved at a regular meeting Feb. 4 a covered-bridge certification and a tax-sale contract.

“Perry County does share the Huffman Mill Bridge with Spencer County,” County Auditor Connie Berger reminded them as she explained the requirement to certify each year that the bridge exists. “By doing the certification, we receive $925 annually” from the state.

The contract with SRI Inc. of Indianapolis will allow them to conduct a sale of tax-delinquent properties in the fall, Berger said.

The company has been conducting such sales for the county in addition to sales of surplus equipment, for years.

County attorney Chris Goffinet reviewed the contract and found no problems with it, Berger also said.

He also reviewed amendments to the Perry County Emergency Management Ordinance, according to Steve Hauser, director of emergency management for the county.

“These were changes that were suggested by the state,” he explained, and each county in Indiana was incorporating the changes into their plans.

The revised ordinance is available for reading at www.perrycounty.in.gov/county-ordinances.

The commissioners’ approval on all three issues was unanimous.
