LEOPOLD – The Lincoln Hills Development Corp. North Perry Head Start is currently taking applications for enrollment for the 2012-13 school year.
An open house will also be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 20 and Head Start staff encourages any interested family or community members to attend.
Children may be enrolled at this time or parents may simply attend to learn more about Head Start. The North Perry Head Start Center is located next to Perry Central school in Leopold.
Head Start is a federally funded preschool program that provides comprehensive services for children and families.
These services meet the educational, emotional, social, health, nutritional needs of preschool children and their families.
Each child receives a complete physical and dental examination including vision, hearing and speech screening.
Meals and limited transportation are provided at no cost. Transportation services are determined on an individual basis.
Enrollment in the Head Start Program is based on age and family income eligibility. Income guidelines are established yearly by the federal government.
Head Start accepts applications for children that will be 3 to 5 years old on or before Aug. 1.
To enroll a child in Head Start, take the following:
- Child’s birth certificate
- Child’s immunization record
- Proof of income, which includes a tax return, child support, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families and Social Security income
