TELL CITY - The Tell City Historical Society membership has voted to accept public nominations for its Distinguished Citizen Award. Since the 1960s, a distinguished member of the community has been honored during each Schweizer Fest for their contribution to the betterment of the city.

The following requirements are considered in determining a Distinguished Citizen:

1. An individual who has accepted Tell City as his or her home, whether by birth or adoption and has benefited our community.

2. Has become involved in activities by employment, civic organization, committees, volunteer service or government representation, serving for others - not for self gain and having an enthusiastic mental attitude with actions following accordingly.

3. Has shown dedication to preserving the highest honesty, respect and pride for the community.

Quoting from Webster's Dictionary "... distinguished has a meaning of conspicuous, marked eminent or one who stands out prominently."

The Historical Society will appoint three members of the society to serve as a committee in secret to make the final selection. The chosen distinguished citizen will be honored on Aug. 2, the opening day of the sesquicentennial celebration.

Letters of nomination should be mailed to: Awards Committee, P.O Box 728, Tell City, IN 47586, to be received before July 11.
